Penalties for overstaying:

  • •Fine of 2,000–7,000 rubles (varies by region; Moscow/St. Petersburg fines are higher)
  • •Detention at a temporary holding facility until departure is arranged
  • •Deportation at your own expense
  • •Entry ban: 3 years for overstay up to 180 days, 5 years for 180–270 days, 10 years for over 270 days
  • •The entry ban is recorded in the Russian migration database and applies to all future visa applications
