Russian Visa Extension

Valid reasons for visa extension:

• •Medical emergency (hospitalization, serious illness) — requires medical documentation
• •Force majeure (natural disaster, flight cancellation, pandemic restrictions)
• •Business necessity (for business visa holders, with employer support)
• •Humanitarian reasons (death of a relative in Russia, etc.)

Important notes:

• •Tourist visas are the hardest to extend — most requests are denied
• •Business visas are easier to extend with proper employer documentation
• •You MUST apply before your current visa expires — applying after expiry = overstay
• •If denied, you must leave Russia before your visa expires
• •Consider getting a longer visa initially rather than planning to extend
