What is a Private Visa Invitation?
A private visa invitation (частное приглашение для иностранца в россию) is an official document required for foreign nationals who wish to visit family or friends in Russia. Unlike a tourist voucher, which is issued by a travel agency, a private invitation must be requested by a host in Russia and issued by the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MVD).
The process is bureaucratic and places the burden of responsibility entirely on the Russian host, who must guarantee the guest's accommodation, medical care, and financial support during their stay.
