Step-by-Step: How to Get a Russian Visa from Canada

1

Check Your Visa Requirements

As a Canadian citizen, you need a traditional Russian visa. The e-visa is NOT available to Canadian passport holders. You must apply through a Russian consulate or visa center.

2

Get Your Visa Invitation Letter

For an ordinary tourist visa, tourist confirmation is normally part of the supporting documents. Current price, payment methods and delivery estimate are shown before payment. Business-product availability must be checked by passport citizenship.

3

Complete the Visa Application Form

Fill out the official Russian visa application form at visa.kdmid.ru. You'll need your passport details, travel dates, accommodation info (from your invitation), and a passport-sized photo (3.5×4.5cm).

4

Submit Your Application

Submit your documents at Embassy of Russia, Ottawa or 2 other location(s) in Canada. You can also use VFS Global visa centers where available. Processing takes 5–10 business days (standard), 1–3 days (express).

5

Receive Your Visa & Travel

Once approved, your visa sticker will be placed in your passport. Make sure to register within 7 business days of arrival in Russia (your hotel usually does this automatically).
